DESK TIME CHECK

Nobody was hired to do the paperwork.

It gets done anyway — in evenings, on Sundays, and by people whose actual job is something else. This works out how many hours a year that is, from your own numbers. Everything updates as you type, nothing is sent anywhere, and nobody asks for your email.

Count the owner. In most businesses this size the largest single block of desk work belongs to whoever owns the place, done after the real work is finished. Leaving yourself out is the most common way to get a number that looks reassuring and is wrong.

Not their whole job — just the quoting, invoicing, chasing and filing.

Be conservative. Some of it will always need a person.

YOUR NUMBERS, NOT OUR CLAIM. UNTIL YOU CHANGE AN INPUT THE FIGURES ARE AN EXAMPLE. THE SHARE AN AGENT CARRIES IS AN INPUT YOU CAN ARGUE WITH, NOT A RESULT WE HAVE MEASURED FOR YOU.

WHAT THIS DELIBERATELY DOES NOT COUNT

  • Judgement calls. Deciding what to quote, who to trust and when to say no is not desk work and no agent should touch it.
  • Anything that happens once. The whole argument rests on the work being repeatable — a task you do twice a year is not where this pays.
  • Time that would not come back. Some of the hours a system saves get spent supervising the system, especially early on.

The number this gives you is a ceiling, not a forecast. What it is genuinely good for is deciding whether the amount is large enough to be worth an afternoon of your attention — and if it is, the page that explains how the hours actually come back →

THE SERVICES BEHIND THE NUMBER

Bring us one bad week.

Book a pilot call. Tell us where the week goes wrong, and we’ll tell you what an Operations Diagnostic would map and measure.

The first paid step has a clear scope and an end date, and the pilot after it is one workflow — not a platform, and not an open-ended retainer.
